BREAKING NEWS: “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” Replaced by Talk Shows

Got this from NBC. Apparently, ABC’s long-running soaps All My Children and One Life to Live are getting cancelled. The latter in January, the former in September. Now, this is good news. You’d think ABC would be smart enough to realize that nobody beats The Young and the Restless. You’d think they’d bring a few game shows back, but nooooooooooooo! They’re doing talk shows!

Talk shows! Can you imagine?

ABC said in a statement that one of the new shows, “The Chew,” “will focus on food.” The one hour live show will have viewers talking about all things food, from trends, to gardening and beyond. Uh, we already have that show. It’s called Rachel Ray.

The other show is “The Revolution,” a daily program “about health and lifestyle transformations.” A team of experts led by Tim Gunn will help viewers change various aspects of their life, from home design, finances, food, relationships and more. We have that show already, ABC. It’s called The Talk.

I’m deeply disappointed in ABC for not realizing what potential there is in daytime game shows. We’ve only had 1 new network game in the past 3 years. You can read more about it here. I think Florida Evans said it best….
