* We start off with some sad news. According to Randy West’s Facebook page, legendary game show director Paul Alter passed away yesterday at the age of 89. He is best known for directing Family Feud and The Price is Right. He even co-wrote the 1969 theme to To Tell the Truth with Charles Fox.
Here are some various clips featuring this man and his work:
We’ll miss you, Paul. Thanks for all your hard work.
* This doesn’t relate to game shows, per se, but I’d just like to share it anyway. According to Entertainment Weekly, KSL-TV, an NBC affiliate in Salt Lake City, is choosing to pre-empt The Playboy Club, slated to premiere this fall. KSL-TV is owned by Bonneville Communications, which in turn is owned by The Church of The Latter-day Saints. [Disclosure: I am a member of this church.] I applaud this move wholeheartedly. We don’t need this type of program on network TV.
Who knows? This could lead to other stations pre-empting it, causing it to be canceled. As such, I am curious as to how KSL will fill this timeslot.
